Last Saturday afternoon we welcomed our friends from Greyfriars bowls club (Warwickshire) for our first match of the season at home. The usual friendly faces arrived and after tea, coffee and biscuits as requested and supplied we settled down to a two-hour match, instead of the usual 18 ends due to the weather and them traveling back in the dark to Warwickshire.

A good game played out, and their team captain Ken was on fire with his bowing. Though some teams were a little mismatched we won overall, but my rink lost by one shot.

I would like to thank all the players who filled in at the last moment to play for Greyfriars and enabled us to fill all six rinks. Also Julia, our secretary who ran the hub, our president and the ladies captain who were involved in setting everything up with me prior to our guests arriving, the helpers that helped to clear up afterwards, and last but not least the Woodgreen staff for setting out the tables and chairs.

Up-coming Charity Match:

I have been asked to remind any members playing and wearing Christmas jumpers, PLEASES DO NOT WEAR THEM If THEY HAVE TINSEL ON, AS TINSEL DAMAGES THE GREEN CARPET.

Anyone can come and spectate as it is for Members and Non-members.

If any members would like to consider helping with refreshments at the hub on this great charity occasion would be much appreciated. For further details please complete the form below.
