Charity Match 1st of Season
Banbury Cross Indoor Bowls Club
Banbury Cross Indoor Bowls club held the first of three charity matches it holds each season. Proceeds go to Katharine House Hospice at the end of the season. A great afternoon was had by all bowlers. The guys beat the gals by 54 shots to 52 shots, a bit of a close call.
A welcome visitor for the afternoon was the Club's President, Gerald Fountain along with the Ladies Captain Janet Fountain who assisted with arranging the afternoon.
After the match we sat down for tea and biscuits and a raffle was held for all the donations brought in by the players which raised £130.00. A big thankyou goes out to Terry Hooley for his wonderful tray of goodies that was won on the seventh ticket drawn by Eileen Lefley. It was her lucky day as she also won a bottle of Whiskey in the Spider game with Pat Riley coming in a close second to win a bottle of Gin.
A big thankyou to Tony Smith our Men's Captain and Pauline Smith for making the afternoon such a success and to Julia Lambert, our secretary for opening up the club Hub and putting up all the ghoulish decorations, in fact thankyou to everyone that turned up, including our Bicester members and all those who got involved and helped to tidy up after the event.
Our next Charity Match is a Christmas themed afternoon on Sunday 17th December at 14:00 so make a note in your diaries. Our Charity Matches are open to all bowlers (both members and non-members)
