UPDATE from the Club Secretary
Good evening everyone. We hope you are having a good season.
The Edd Frost Gala went well and there were exciting matches to watch. Our thanks go to Keith and Bev McNeil for organising this event for the last 10 years. They will be stepping down now, deservedly taking some time off, so the club will need to invite others to take up the task.
We have several fixtures still to play and there’s a Charity Match on Sunday April 2nd.
One of our teams achieved Hot Shot status in a recent match and have been awarded national recognition.
Our competitions are almost finished but still a couple of finals to be played. Have a look on the board and maybe come along to support those playing.
Thanks goes to Andy Winter for organising these.
As we approach the last 7 weeks of indoor bowls there are some organisational items you will need to be aware of
Clocks change on 26th March. Will that affect your games? The clock on the hall may not be altered straight away so don’t rely on it for playing your games.
Here is our update on what’s happening between now and the end of the season:
Our fixtures and leagues will continue until April 14th when the bowls hall will be closed for all bowling, including casual and roll up sessions.
The last league fixtures will be on Friday 14th April
The deadline for emptying lockers is Monday April 24th
Keys must be handed back to reception by Monday April 24thPlease make sure staff record your name against the number on their list when you hand in your key
Our ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING will be held in the bowls hall at 7pm on Tuesday April 25th
Notices of the Agenda, the Election of the New Committee will be posted on the board before the end of the season together with the deadlines.
Please participate.
This is your club.
You are a member.
You signed up, so please turn up and take part.
Please talk to those you know and canvass for candidates for the election
Decisions made at this meeting apply to all members.
If you want to have a say, you need to be present.
If you want to make a formal proposal, the process will be explained on the noticeboard and must be submitted before the meeting
We are planning for next season, please look at the notice boards to see how Skips will be asked to sign up to enter a team and pay the entry fee. This needs to be done before the end of this season.
The information on how to register at Woodgreen at the start of next season will be on our website together with start dates and fees.
There is a lot to do in advance for leagues to run and we have to set deadlines for each stage of the process.
Please bear that in mind and do look for updates and information during August so that you can send your paperwork in good time.
We do realise that there is an overlap with outdoor season finishing and indoor starting, as well as maybe being on holiday.
So this year we are trying to bring forward some of the processes.
Thank you for helping us to make a smooth start to the 2023- 2024 season.
In the meantime we look forward to seeing you at the AGM
Also, take a look at the club’s Bowlr IT system which includes a diary of club events and will give access to league results and standings. http://banburycross.bowlr.co.uk
